Pre-War Life

Though George Marsh was born in Pennsylvania, he lived in Wellston, Ohio when he enlisted.

George Marsh was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Wellston, Ohio where he lived for the majority of his life preceding the war. Marsh was 20 years old when he enlisted in the Civil War. He was 5'11" and described as having a "light" complexion. George had gray eyes and light colored hair. His occupation before the war was a boatman.
